Last summer by boyfriend and I embarked on a West Coast motorcycle adventure. We wanted to see all sorts of wonders, both natural and manmade, that the United States has to offer. On my list of must-see places was the Giant Forest in Sequoia National Park in California.
Specifically, I wanted to see General Sherman, a giant sequoia that is the largest known living single stem tree on Earth (by volume). When the day came for us to don our leather motorcycle jackets and ride to the park, I could not contain my excitement. General Sherman did not disappoint. I channeled Ansel Adams and took an astounding number of photographs that are now framed and hanging on our living room wall.
The adrenaline rush of riding the motorcycle is just one of the aspects that make the experience unique. Riding on the back of a bike will be a memorable moment for any child. Although this heart-pounding thrill ride will be exhilarating, you want to be sure that everyone is safe.
Normal biker gear isn’t designed for children, so it is important to make sure that you have equipment that fits your child properly. Kid’s motorcycle riding jackets are an essential, not only for warmth, but also in case of a spill as well. Before you put you kid on the back of the bike, make sure you’ve taken all the measures to ensure their safety.
Last summer I purchased my first motorcycle, and it has not only been a thrill for me but for my entire family. At first my wife was little hesitant to hop on the back-now she begs me to take her for rides. Our oldest son also is constantly hounding me to take him for leisure trips as well.
Although I am more than comfortable on my motorcycle, I was reluctant to let me oldest heir on. After some contemplation, my wife and I decided that it would be ok. Of course we took all of the necessary precautions, like by him a well-fit helmet and his own kids motor cycle riding gear.
Look fashionable all the time while you’re zipping down the road or simply hanging out with your rider friends. One of the best outfits for riders like you are stylish motorcycle jackets made of quality natural leather. These are made from premium split cowhide leather and are studded with durable metal hardware.
Many of these discount motorcycle leather jackets have removable liners to make them easy to clean. Select from a wide range of designs especially made for men and women. They come in various colors, textures and style options. Some are also offered in durable Buffalo leather.
Paris Fashion Week this year was from March 1st to the 9th. Paris is the last of the Big 4 fashion weeks. The other four are New York Fashion Week, London Fashion Week, and Milan Fashion Week. All sorts of celebrities come out of the woodwork to attend these events.
This year, the always colorful Kanye West showed up in colorful motorcycle garb. Over a plain grey t-shirt, West wore a bright red motorcycle jacket. The leather was accented with gold hardware. Setting fashion trends is something West is known for, so I wouldn’t be surprised if motorcycle jackets became a main stream fashion fad this year.
Last month, Tommy Hilfiger unveiled his Men’s Fall 2011 clothing line. The collection was designed to combine elements of boarding schools and Brooklyn clubs. This mix of prep and indie is a far cry from the more traditional suits that Hilfiger is known for.
What I liked best about the collection was the mixing of soft with hard edge. There was definitely a focus on men’s motorcycle jackets. The hard edge and rebellion paired with preppy separates is pure genius. It will be interesting to see if other designers start copying motorcycle chic in their own collections.
Your leather motorcycle jacket keeps you protected on the road, so show it some love with proper maintenance. Using a soft damp cloth, gently remove road salt from the outside of the jacket. A quick wipe down should be sufficient; too much water can damage leather, after all.
Next, work leather cleaning product into the jacket with a clean soft cloth. Buffing the jacket – wiping in circular motions – will remove most of the dirt and give the jacket a bit of a shine. Shea butter can then be applied to the leather motorcycle jacket as a conditioner. Finally, hang the jacket on a wide hanger in an area that gets plenty of ventilation.
Leather possesses the uncanny ability to resist a wide variety of conditions. It is notoriously good at taking a beating without losing its innate resilience. From wind and rain to debris and more, you can throw just about anything at leather without destroying it. This makes it the ideal material for durable protective clothing. What’s more, it’s popularity as a durable material means products made with leather are also very stylish.
Because of the protection, comfort and style that they provide, leather motorcycle jackets are popular among more than just bikers. Because they last for so long, leather jackets are often highly prized possessions. Since their comfort never fades and their popularity goes on unabated, they make the perfect style choice for anyone who wants a coat that will last for a long time to come.
If you make an investment in a really nice motorcycle jacket, you’re going to want to keep that jacket in the best possible condition. The following are some easy tips to keep that leather jacket looking brand new.
-Do some work beforehand. When you get the jacket home, apply a basic waterproof and conditioning treatment. This extra step will mean you won’t have to worry so much about stepping outside in the rain. And with this treatment, you can add years to the jacket’s life.
-Treat wear and cracks right away. Loose edges can easily be treated with a small amount of rubber cement. If you merely have worn spots, another quick solution is beeswax and mink oil. As an added bonus, this concoction helps stem potential stains.
-Switch to the big guns. If your leather jacket really needs work, you might have to switch to a more professional level treatment. There are plenty on the market, including brands such as Lexol and Snow-Proof.
-Become friendly with a tailor. If your jacket suffers a serious rip or wear spot, no amount of product can restore it to its previous state. In this case, call up your local tailor and see what he/she can do for you. You’d be surprised at the wonders a creative tailor can do for your clothing.
It’s most common to see motorcyclists wearing all black leather motorcycle riding gear. It’s classic, easy to take care of and matches everything. Brown leather gear is not quite as common, but it could be a nice change if you are looking for a new jacket, vest, chaps or gloves. You’ll stand out in this unique look that is more reminiscent of the old West than modern day riding.
Brown motorcycle jackets may also keep you cooler, since the brown color won’t absorb as much sun radiation as black. You can also find brown leather gear that is made out of water buffalo hide rather than cowhide. Buffalo hide is super durable and one of the thickest, most abrasion-resistant leathers available. With no synthetic surface finishes, your brown buffalo gear will even breathe better when you get hot on the open road.
